Central Penn Youth Announces Coaches at 14, 16 & 18, and Welcomes Acker!

The Panthers are very please to announce that Travis Acker will be joining the coaching staff as a program wide skill coach. Jim McNally, Garrett Shultz, and Wil Younger to head coach youth teams, Joel Eisenhower to continue mentoring Goalies.

Acker has enjoyed a vast array of success throughout his playing career. He was member of the USA Hockey Atlantic District team; played u18 TIEHL with the JR. Flyers (as an under-age 16), Tier 3 JR with Central Penn, and now NCAA D3 with Lebanon Valley College. The highly skilled Acker is a great addition to the club; he will also be assisting the staff with the JR. Flyers Skills Academy at Regency. When asked to work with the youth teams at Central Penn Acker said, “ABSOLUTELY, I loved being part of CPP and want to help give back… for sure.”

McNally will head the 14s and be assisted by Younger. McNally has a wide range of successful playing experience, ranging from Tier 1 through JRA, as well as ACHA D1 & D2. Most recently he has served as an Assistant Coach with the JR Panthers in the Eastern Hockey League (Premier), and will continue to do so. He has also assisted in many skills camps held by the Central Penn Panthers for youth players.

Shultz will be taking the reigns with the 16s along with continuing his duties as the JR Panthers Head Coach. Garrett has done a remarkable job over the past 2 seasons with player development – 22 of his players have gained exposure and experience to the next level of JR play. Currently Shultz is a candidate for Coach of the Year in the EHLP.

Younger will is the longest standing coach in the Central Penn club, and has led teams successfully to League playoffs at 12u, 14u and 16u, including a league championship at 16u in 2016-17.

Eisenhower is planning to continue serving as the Central Penn Goalie Coach. In 2017-18 Eisenhower served as the organizations Goalie Coach for the first time. He was highly recommended by his predecessor, Scott Murray (current Washington Capitals Goalie Coach and Central Penn Coach from 2013 until last season).
