After a very disappointing game in Bethlehem on Saturday, the u16s played to the Delaware Jr. Blue Hens at Regency on Sunday.
Central Penn got on the board quick, just 1:09 into the first Sean Barba (’02) took a feed from center Kevin Eshleman (’01) who had taken a nice outlet pass from Cooper Younger (’01). Less then 3-minutes later Matt McQuate (’01) got on the board from David Derolf (’00) and Evan Weaver (’00). Matt “BG” Brubaker (’00) completed the first period scoring for the Panthers on the Power Play, from McQuate and Jacob Favilla (’00).
In the second the u16s lost some of their their composure and got into some penalty trouble… collecting 5 penalties in the last 8-minutes of the period; resulting in the two Jr. Blue Hens goals and drawing within a goal. However, with just over a minute left in the period Matt Neuheimer (’00) scored what has to be the prettiest goal of his career on a nifty move and beautiful back-hand goal off a feed from Tyler Dubien (’01).
The Panthers continued to press in the third, Martin “Candlestick” Zavadan (’00) scored on a feed from Tommy Knapp (’01); Barba got his second goal of the day from a great feed from line Chris Grubb (’01). Favilla pressured hard on the PK forecheck causing a turn-over and scoring. Gavin Maurer (’00) rounded out the scoring with a solid goal from Zavadan and Kristin Schauren (’00).
Creed Goshorn (’01) was solid in net, making 28 saves en route to his league leading 10th win of the season.
