Ice Breaker Tournament
Sunday the 16s played the Lancaster Firebirds. The Panthers came out Fast And Strong, but former Panther goalie Max Aukamp (’01) was very solid for Lancaster. Lancaster broke the ice in the first period taking a 1:0 lead on a great greasy goal down low; but Panthers’ Kevin Eshleman (’01) answered right back scoring on a silky smooth breakaway to tie things at 1. In the second period the Panthers continued to pressure, and it paid off, leading to their own dirty goal from newcomer Chris Grubb (’01) to give the Panthers the lead, and prove to be the eventual game winner. In the third Eshleman notched his second of the game on a redirection. In the 3:1 victory the Panthers got a great effort out of their short-handed defense, and Creed Goshorn (’01) was rock solid in net.
One of the biggest highlights of the weekend was a number of the members of the Central Penn Junior team came out to support their little brothers and sister, for the game against Lancaster. The 16s got a great spark from the spacial guests, and really pumped them up when they saw the Juniors.
